Description

On March 20, 1978, collector Karen Reed interviewed her grandmother, Virginia Houser (born on August 22nd, 1912 in Bartonville, Illinois) at her home in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the interview, Virginia Houser discusses working in Las Vegas at various stores as well as changes in the Downtown and Strip areas. She also speaks about the annual Helldorado Parade and other entertainment in the Las Vegas area besides gambling.

The Harvey's Lake Tahoe Hotel and Casino series (1830-1995) consists of books, guides, and magazines about gambling artifacts; casino promotional information and photographs, employee information; photocopies of Harvey's coin, token, and check collection; newspaper clippings about Harvey's hotel and assorted artifacts and ephemera including faro boards and case keepers, playing cards and holders, slot machine payoff signs, table-top gambling games, drinking glasses, matchbooks, and other casino merchandise. Also included are notes compiled on U.S. and world casinos and a collection of pre-Castro Cuba postcards collected by Andy Gazsi.
