The UNLV Libraries Collection on the UNLV Mascot and Other University Symbols (approximately 1970-2020) is comprised of eleven conceptual drawings of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas logos, proposed university official emblems, and mascots including “Hey Reb!". The collection also includes a costume for the "Hey Reb!" mascot.
The Dennis McBride Collection on Las Vegas, Nevada LGBTQ Organizations (approximately 1984-2008) contains photographs, magazines, and documents relating to various LGBTQ organizations and events in Las Vegas, Nevada. Photographs of prominent community members, including Strutt Hurley, William "Bill" Schafer, Rob Schlegel, and Dennis McBride attending events such as National Coming Out Day and pageants organized by the Southern Nevada Association of Pride, Inc. (SNAPI). Also included in the collection are magazines, newspaper clippings, and documents relating to various issues such as Nevada's "Question 2", a ballot measure that prevented same-sex marriages from being conducted or recognized in Nevada; offical reports on the AIDS epidemic; and student organizations like Students for an Equal America (SEA) and Human Understanding Despite Differences Lifts Everyone (HUDDLE). This collection also contains digital scans of some of the photographs in the collection.
The Felicia F. Campbell Collection on the Governor’s Commission on Status of People Records (1970-1977) is comprised primarily of meeting minutes, agendas, reports, and memorandums from the Nevada Commission. The collection also contains women’s rights commission handbooks from various states and correspondence and newspaper clippings pertaining to Campbell's professional life.
The UNLV Libraries Collection of California Hotel and Casino Publicity and Promotional Materials includes Securities and Exchange Commission Form 10-Q, press kits, press releases, promotional materials, and newspaper and magazine clippings for California Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, dating from 1974 to 2002.
The UNLV Libraries Collection on Claes Oldenburg's Flashlight sculpture is comprised primarily of correspondence, photographs, and information dating from approximately 1972 to 1981, and 2011 about the planning and installation of the Flashlight at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) campus. The materials include correspondence between Brock Dixon, Dean of Administration, and the sculpture grant committee, the National Endowment for the Arts, and sculptors considered for the job such as Richard Serra and Claes Oldenburg. The collection also includes photographs of Flashlight maquettes and installation on campus and postcards depicting the Flashlight on the UNLV campus. Also included is a written history of the commissioned sculpture, a UNLV News Center article about the sculpture from 2011, and an autographed copy of Claes Oldenburg: Large Scale Projects, 1977 to 1980.
The Bob McCaffery Collection on the Save the Hughes Flying Boat Campaign (1980-1983) documents efforts by activists to preserve the plane from destruction and its subsequent acquisition by the Aero Club of Southern California in 1980. The collection contains photographs and newspaper clippings about the Hughes H-4 Hercules flying boat nicknamed the "Spruce Goose" from the 1980s.
