Oral history interview with Laurents Bañuelos-Benitez conducted by Rodrigo Vazquez and Barbara Tabach on June 16, 2021 for the Latinx Voices of Southern Nevada Oral History Project. Laurents is a Las Vegas native, graduate of Clark High School, and son of Mexican and Salvadoran immigrants. He is currently an English teacher at Rancho High School and was a former student worker on the Latinx Voices project.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Everett E. Daniels conducted by Gary Trbovich, Jr. on November 10, 2008 for the Public School Principalship Oral History Project. In this interview, Daniels reflects upon his experiences as a teacher and administrator with Ohio’s Canton City School District (CCSD). He discusses the influence of sports on his education and career, and how coaching influenced his approach to school administration and his working relationships with teachers, students, and other administrators. He also describes his typical responsibilities and challenges at different schools, and his experience with central office administration.

Oral history interview with Franca Dell’Olio conducted by Gary Mayers on February 12, 2006 for the Public School Principalship Oral History Project. In this interview, Dell’Olio reflects upon her 15-year career in education as a high school teacher and administrator in California from the 1990s to the 2000s. She describes the process by which she chose to become a teacher and eventually an administrator, and describes her regular job responsibilities. She also discusses effective leadership qualities, and offers suggestions for individuals interested in pursuing school administration.

Description

Oral history interview with Sandra Candel conducted by Elsa Lopez, Monserrath Hernández, and Barbara Tabach on October 03, 2019 for the Latinx Voices of Southern Nevada Oral History Project. Sandra Candel talks of her childhood growing up with her grandparents in Guadalajara, Jalisco after her mother immigrated to America. She moved to California to attend university before moving to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she raised her children and began homeschooling them. This path led to Sandra opening a Montessori school, igniting her interest in education. She talks of her pursuit of both a Masters Degree from Drexel University and a Doctoral Degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Sandra concludes her interview with discussion of her research and current employment as a part-time instructor for the Department of Interdisciplinary, Gender, and Ethnic Studies at UNLV. Subjects discussed include: Guadalajara; Salt Lake City, Utah; Sensitive Teaching Practices; Multi-generational families.
