View at Colorado River area near Hoover Dam site. Photographer W.A. Davis disagrees with the identification. He says, "Hills west (10 miles) of Las Vegas, Charleston range in background. Petroglyphs on the rocks, Rocks are red and yellow."
A colored postcard showing an artist's representation of the construction site of Hoover Dam, previously known as Boulder Dam, in Black Canyon. Constructed in the 1930s, Hoover Dam crosses the Colorado River on the state line between Arizona and Nevada. Also considered to be an engineering wonder and the world's largest dam during its time of construction, Hoover Dam provides much-needed irrigation and hydroelectric power to the Southwest region of the United States. Transcribed onto the top border of the image: "Black Canyon, Boulder Dam Site."
An image showing an aerial view of people looking at one of the Hoover Dam spillways. Automobiles travel over a concrete bridge. Note: Boulder Dam was officially renamed Hoover Dam in 1947.
A view of the downstream face of Hoover Dam; from this angle the power house can be seen at the base of the dam, along with intake towers in Lake Mead.
