Abstract

Oral history interview with Henry Kronberg conducted by Barbara Tabach on February 26, 2015 for the Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project. In this interview Kronberg talks about his childhood in Germany and Poland, his experience being imprisoned by the Gestapo, and being transported to a concentration camp. He talks about surviving the Holocaust and meeting his wife. He discusses being reunited with his sister in Las Vegas, Nevada after decades of searching. Kronberg discusses purchasing Stoney's, a loan and pawn shop, anti-Semitism, and water resources in Southern Nevada.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Rosemarie and Gregory Johnson conducted by Amber Rose Johnson on December 04, 2016 and December 05, 2016 for African Americans in Las Vegas: a Collaborative Oral History Project. In the first interview, Gregory discusses his early life and growing up in Las Vegas, Nevada. He talks about being being an electrician and member of the IBEW Local 357 in Las Vegas, and Union workers' strike. In the second interview, Rosemarie discusses her upbringing and arriving to Las Vegas in 1984. Lastly, Gregory and Rosemarie describe the implications of being an interracial couple, and the intersections of race and class.

Oral history interview with Monroe Williams conducted by Claytee D. White on August 15, 2000 and August 22, 2000 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview Monroe Williams discusses moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1943, living in the historical Westside neighborhood, and being one of the first black fire fighters in Las Vegas. He also talks about being involved with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored Peoples (NAACP), being in the Navy for two years, and his real estate and property management companies.
