Description

Footage opens with multiple takes of an actor dressed in "cowboy" attire, carrying a saddle through the desert, then riding on a horse-drawn buggy with another man in cowboy boots. The men are pretending to lasso and whip the horses driving their buggy, and periodically switch off driving and lassoing. Switches to a close up of a man wearing an "El Rancho" belt buckle, gun holsters, and chaps; the camera is focused on the man gesturing to the camera, showing the coins in his hand. Various other scenes related to this western-cowboy themed promotion are shown. Video cuts in an out, no audio. Second segment begins around 26:00 and is multiple takes of an actress in costume as an owl motioning her arms and responding to voiceover cues (close up only); the advertisement is for Castaways "night owl" special for $1.99. The camera then pans out and she is posing and dancing to music, her costume includes feathers on her arms to look like a bird's wings. Description

On March 6, 1977, Ronald Robinson interviewed Mary Ellen Campbell (born 1886 in Panaca, Nevada) about her life in Nevada. Campbell first talks about her parents’ move to the United States from England and her own life growing up in Panaca. She also talks about living in Pioche and the conditions of living in these two small Nevada towns. Also present during the interview is Mary’s grandson, Allen Campbell, who sometimes asks a few questions as well.
