The Mildred Mann Papers (1915-1995) contain documents related to her involvement in teaching ceramics and her work with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. There are also Clark County Community College (CCCC) class schedules, real estate papers, and membership lists.

The Nancy Houssels Collection on the Nevada Dance Theatre (1972-1997) consists of programs, posters, photographs, newsletters, magazine articles, and newspaper clippings related to the Nevada Dance Theatre (now Nevada Ballet Theatre) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nancy Houssels co-founded the Nevada Dance Theatre in 1972 with Vassili Sulich.

Abstract

The Shelley Bristol Papers (approximately 1950 to 2023) document Bristol's experiences as an AIDS activist, sex worker, and radio show host. The materials include Bristol's personal testimony for the National Association of People with AIDS, her correspondence with the "Nevadans Against Prostitution," a newsletter from WORLD (Women Organized to Respond to Life-Threatening Diseases), and notes for Bristol's personal autobiography. Also included are materials related to her blog and radio show, "Madam Vanessa: Las Vegas Talk of the Town" which Bristol started to share her experiences of working as a sex worker in Las Vegas in the early 1970s. Other materials include blog post drafts, radio scripts, and an archived copy of her blog. The collection also includes some personal photographs of Bristol as a child and her parents, Marilyn and Jerry Bristol.

Peggy Hyde Phillips Papers

The Peggy Hyde Phillips Papers (1929-1998) document the lives of Peggy Hyde Phillips, her first husband Charles, and her son Michael. Materials include family photographs, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and documents from Michael Hyde’s time as a student at the United States Air Force Academy. The collection also includes a near-complete run of issues from February 1, 1963 through May 8, 1964 of the Paradise Press weekly newspaper from Paradise, an unincorporated township in Clark County, Nevada.

Rodney Sumpter Papers on Doe v. Bryan

Abstract

The Rodney Sumpter Papers on Doe v. Bryan contain the legal files of the lawyer Rodney Sumpter, who represented the appellants in the Nevada District Court case Doe v. Bryan (1985) and subsequent appeal in the Nevada State Supreme Court in 1986. Doe v. Bryan challenged one of Nevada's sodomy laws (NRS 201.190), and the collection contains affidavits, motion requests, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and memoranda regarding the case.

The Perry Kaufman Papers (1930-1974) are comprised of research material gathered by Kaufman for his doctoral dissertation, "The Best City of Them All: A History of Las Vegas, 1930-1960." Kaufman's research focused on the Las Vegas, Nevada Chamber of Commerce's role in promoting Las Vegas as a tourist destination. The collection primarily consists of newspaper clippings from the Las Vegas Review-Journal and the Las Vegas Sun. It also includes Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce minutes and publications, research on the history of Las Vegas, and Kaufman's notes and writings.
