Description

On June 30, 1975, Larry DuRussel interviewed carpenter Gordon Christie, (born March 9th, 1916 in Grand Rapids, Michigan) at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada. During this interview Gordon discusses having worked on the building of the MGM, Fremont Downtown, the Sahara Hotel, Desert Inn, and the Frontier Hotel, amongst others. Before becoming a carpenter, Gordon recalls working with his father at a furniture factory. He also discusses religion, politics, family life and the growth of Las Vegas.

This study was conducted in 2005 to better understand the Jewish community in Southern Nevada. The themes of the study include population growth, population geographic shift and dispersal, Jewish youth, Jewish identity, increasing synagogue membership and general participation in Jewish causes.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Gerome Sapp conducted by Claytee D. White on September 9, 2015 for the Building a Las Vegas Tech Culture Oral History Project. In this interview, former NFL player Gerome Sapp recounts his personal, academic, and business experiences. He first came to Las Vegas, Nevada in September 2012 seeking investment opportunities for his company, Fluencr. A year later, he received the investment and moved to Las Vegas. Eventually, Sapp began working with the 2015 Life is Beautiful festival to document the artists of the Art Motel.

Abstract

The Las Vegas Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Collection (approximately 1960-2012) contains photographs of Teenbeat Club (located at 4416 Paradise Road, Las Vegas, Nevada) founders Keith Austin and Steve Miller from 1962 to 1968, as well as a reprodution of a poster from the club. The collection also contains Hall of Fame (HOF) Induction Ceremony and Concert program and ticket stubs, HOF Board of Directors minutes from 2010, and an advertisement and digital file of the "Strip Away the Years: the Story of the Las Vegas Rock Reunion Concert" film produced in 2012.

In this interview, Barber reflects upon her nearly 30-year career as a teacher and administrator with the Clark County School District from the 1980s to the 2000s.
