Postcard from Mount Hood, Oregon, sent from "Lois" to Mr. & Mrs. Ed Giles in Goldfield, Nevada. Letter reads: "Lois Casman(?), Portland, Oregon. Dear Mr. & Mrs. Giles, Just a note to tell you we are having a nice rest among the trees and roses. I do wish, though, that Ihad an airplane. I would sail to Goldfield the first thing. If you have time, write me a few lines, telling me the 'news.' Love, Lois."

A messgae on the back of the photograph. It reads: "1920-1954. This was a mizers Castle in Goldfield Nevada. John Bush - lived here 30 years alone while saved 100 thousand dollars, no water or electricity were in this house He worked extremely(?) hard - was student of the Bible never spent nothing at all on himself. Cut his own hair wore socks on his feet in the winter saved on shoes and in the last(?) married a rich woman and is still living"

Description

One of the women in this photograph, stage name Elizabeth Shelly, real name Elizabeth Jean Woollett (born 1928, died 2014), was identified by her daughter, Rozzy. Rozzy also shared the following information: "this was a Donn Arden avant guard production on stage, an unusual one off for my mum - she spoke highly of Donn. She loved her days as a Bluebell Girl - she was a classically trained ballet dancer initially trained locally with Miss Hawkins and went on to train with Judith Espinosa. Elizabeth was a Bluebell Girl for 2 years (1952– 53) before she married in 1955."
