8th Annual "Hell on Heels" event, 1989 May 06

Established in 1982 in Las Vegas, the queer Satyricon Motorcycle Club hosted an annual run they called Hell on Heels, which was attended by queer motorcycle clubs from throughout the Western United States. Celebrated over two or three days, the run included a fundraising stage production featuring musical numbers and lip-synched drag performances by club members. This video records the 8th annual Hell on Heels stage production, which includes Las Vegas lesbian activist and Satyricons member Lisa Hernandez--here in top hat and tails. Abstract

Oral history interview with Roger Pettersson conducted by David G. Schwartz on February 24, 2017 for the Slot Operations Oral History Project. Petterson discusses his background and his experiences in multiple positions for slot management. Pettersson also discusses the various slot operations in casinos such as the Bellagio Hotel and Casino, and the Mirage Hotel and Casino. He then describes what makes a good slot manager, what customers are looking for in slot machines, and how the slot industry has changed over the years, particularly with the use of free play.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Gerome Sapp conducted by Claytee D. White on September 9, 2015 for the Building a Las Vegas Tech Culture Oral History Project. In this interview, former NFL player Gerome Sapp recounts his personal, academic, and business experiences. He first came to Las Vegas, Nevada in September 2012 seeking investment opportunities for his company, Fluencr. A year later, he received the investment and moved to Las Vegas. Eventually, Sapp began working with the 2015 Life is Beautiful festival to document the artists of the Art Motel.

Abstract

The Las Vegas Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Collection (approximately 1960-2012) contains photographs of Teenbeat Club (located at 4416 Paradise Road, Las Vegas, Nevada) founders Keith Austin and Steve Miller from 1962 to 1968, as well as a reprodution of a poster from the club. The collection also contains Hall of Fame (HOF) Induction Ceremony and Concert program and ticket stubs, HOF Board of Directors minutes from 2010, and an advertisement and digital file of the "Strip Away the Years: the Story of the Las Vegas Rock Reunion Concert" film produced in 2012.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Shirley Barber conducted by Rajul Edmond on April 11, 2003 for the Public School Principalship Oral History Project. In this interview, Barber reflects upon her nearly 30-year career as a teacher and administrator with the Clark County School District from the 1980s to the 2000s. Barber describes the process by which she became an elementary and middle school principal, and her approach to being a leader within the school and as a member of the School Board. She also discusses challenges that she was faced with, such as school integration.
