Sitting in front, Chester Geyer and George Brown. While playing its Last game in Ely that season the team received a telegram from home staying, "Beat Ely and Chicago next." About $2,500 was raised in a few hours in Tonopah to send the team to participate in a tournament in Chicago. The Tonopah lads, however, did not fare well in Chicago against older and bigger competitions.

Carver, Carver-Duhme, and Carver-Book Families (Smoky Valley). One of the first pictures taken at Carver’s Station, Smoky Valley, Nevada, when it was originally known as Carver’s Rainbow Ranch Bar and Café. Driver of the Las Vegas-Tonopah-Reno Stage Line, which traveled through Tonopah to Winnemucca every other day, is pictured with Dick and Gary Carver.

The Sheree Downs Las Vegas, Nevada Photographs are comprised of photographs Downs took between 1976 and 1995 during visits to Las Vegas, Nevada. The photographs document the evolution of hotel and casino architecture and signage on the Las Vegas Strip and in downtown Las Vegas. Also included are photographs of various tourist attractions in Las Vegas and souvenirs from casinos.

Ronald Sharp Collection on MAD Building for Project Rover

Abstract

The Ronald Sharp Collection on MAD Building for Project Rover (approximately 1958-1963) contains a brochure and photographs of the Maintenance, Assembly, and Disassembly (MAD) Building for Project Rover located at the Nuclear Rocket Development Station at the Nevada Test Site. The MAD building was one of the major centers for testing activities for Project Rover which was a United States project to develop a nuclear-thermal rocket. The materials also include photographs of an engine transporting a Kiwi nuclear rocket reactor from the MAD building to the test site and a mushroom nuclear cloud. Also included are photographs of Ronald Sharp and New Mexico artist Jose Sanchez, presumably at the MAD Building.
