Oral history interview with Allyson Adamsen conducted by Claytee D. White and Stefani Evans on May 20, 2024 for the UNLV Remembers: an Oral History of the 6 December 2023 Shootings project. In this interview, Adamsen shares her recollections from December 6, 2023. Adamsen recalls being inside a Beam Hall restroom when she heard gunshots, and locking herself in a stall. She remained there until police arrived and escorted her out of the building. Adamsen recalls how Honors College Assistant Dean Jeneric called her and arranged for her to go to CAPS (Student Counseling and Psychological Services) and after that, she utilized a private therapist through her father's insurance. She also discusses the #UNLVStrong t-shirt she could not bring herself to wear until recently. Digital audio available.

Goodman, Oscar Baylin, 1939-

Oscar Goodman was born June 26, 1939 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He earned his undergraduate degree from Haverford College in 1961 and his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1964. That same year, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and in 1965 he was admitted to the Nevada State Bar. He served as Clark County’s chief deputy public defender from 1966 to 1967.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Andre "Brother Dre" King conducted by Claytee D. White on July 20, 2018 for the Remembering 1 October Oral History Project. In this interview, King recalls learning judo and wrestling at an early age. After spending ten years in prison for a burglary offense, he served an additional eleven years in facilities across the state. After twenty-one years in the system, King is now a nondenominational spiritual being and once he learned about the Healing Garden for 1 October victims, he went there daily, during and immediately after the construction. King has helped many survivors and has healed himself as well, through giving love, hugs, and spiritual inspiration.

Documenting the African American Experience in Las Vegas, Nevada Web Archive is comprised of archived websites captured primarily in 2017 that are related to UNLV University Libraries community documentation project, "Documenting the African American Experience in Las Vegas." Archived websites represent religious institutions, civic and service organizations, and local businesses in the Las Vegas Valley. The collection includes archived websites of organizations like the local NAACP branch, the Urban Chamber of Commerce, Westside School Alumni Foundation, 100 Black Men of Las Vegas, National Coalition of 100 Black Women, the First African Methodist Episcopal Church, and the Psi Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
