Earl Alger was born in the early 1930s in Las Vegas, Nevada. He married Gloria (Hicks) Alger after meeting in the Mormon church.

Tim Harney moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1965 to take a teaching position at Rancho High School. He and his family lived in the John S. Park Neighborhood from 1973 to around 1987.

Lawrence Weekly was born on April 16, 1964 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He earned a position as a City Councilman starting in 1999 and a few years later he was appointed Clark County Commissioner.

Schwartz was born on May 13, 1926 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He attended Colorado Military School in Denver, Colorado and the University of Southern California. He left the university without a degree and went into the merchant tailoring business in Los Angeles, California. After that business went bankrupt, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada with his brother, Seymour Schwartz, around 1951 and started Schwartz Brothers Clothing.

Martin Lopez-Castillo was born in the small town of La Perla, Cuautitlán Izcalli in the State of Mexico. He grew up in a large Catholic family and was taught the meaning of hard work from a young age. Competitive by nature, he excelled in academics and always understood the importance of receiving an education. He left his hometown, immigrating to Phoenix, Arizona, and finally reached Colorado, where he worked as a cook for a Village Inn.

Chris Guinchigliani was born November 27, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois. In 1978, she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and began teaching at the Clark County School District. She involved herself first in the teachers’ union; eventually serving as president of the Nevada State Education Association from 1987 to 1991. Guinchigliani and her Husband Gary Gray are longtime residents of the John S. Park Neighborhood and she was among those who originated the idea of getting a historical designation for the community.
