Oral history interviews with Antioco Carrillo conducted by Rodrigo Vazquez and Monserrath Hernández on June 27, 2019 and July 11, 2019 for the Latinx Voices of Southern Nevada Oral History Project. In this interview, Carrillo discusses his early life in Jalisco, Mexico. He talks about attending an all-boys school, the braceros program, and moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1987. Carrillo describes the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Las Vegas, being executive director of Aid for AIDS Nevada (AFAN), and the disproportionate infection rate of Hispanics and African Americans. Carrillo talks about advocating for same sex marriage, his involvement with lawsuits that involve defining marriage in Nevada, and being the first same-sex marriage in Nevada. Lastly, Carrillo discusses the struggles to achieve equality, and living in a heterosexual society.

Oral history interview with Frank Cuti conducted by Hans Kohls on February 25, 1979 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Frank Cuti discusses his experiences in the gaming industry in Nevada, such as his work as a floor man and a dealer in properties such as the Frontier Club during the 1940s. He then describes the changes in casinos like the El Rancho Hotel, Club Bingo, and the Flamingo Hotel. Other topics discussed include the nature of competition between properties, cheaters, the mob, the involvement of unions, and Howard Hughes’ influence on the development of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Oral history interview with Ree Wengert conducted by Jams A. Bibbee on February 28, 1980 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In this interview, Wengert discusses her personal history prior to arriving in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1951. Wengert then describes the El Rancho Hotel and Casino in the 1950s, and recalls being freely permitted into Nellis Air Force Base to see the aircraft stationed there. Wengert later discusses the significance of the Helldorado Parade, atomic bomb testing, and the advancement of telecommunications.

Oral history interview with Myron E. Leavitt conducted by Thomas Neill on March 14, 1978 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In the interview, Leavitt discusses his childhood in Las Vegas, Nevada during 1930s. He describes recreational activities during the time, his education, his law practice, and his eventual position as Justice of the Peace between 1960 to 1962. Leavitt then discusses issues and events occurring during his life including city navigation, the Las Vegas creek, employment, the arrival of Howard Hughes, the economy, atomic testing, and World War II.

Oral history interview with Irene Tabor conducted by Claytee D. White on July 03, 2014 for the West Charleston Neighborhoods: an Oral History Project of Ward 1. In this interview, Tabor discusses growing up in Honolulu, Hawaii, her father’s employment with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1947. She talks about being a teenager in Las Vegas, attending Las Vegas High School, and the businesses on Fifth Street. Tabor recalls her employment at the Dunes Hotel and Casino as a wardrobe artist for showgirls. Lastly, Tabor discusses activities she participated in as part of the Girl Scouts, her involvement in the sorority Beta Sigma Phi, and changes in Las Vegas.

Oral history interview with Celese Rayford conducted by Phillip Walley on November 14, 2015 for the African Americans in Las Vegas: a Collaborative Oral History Project. In this interview, Rayford discusses her career as an educator in Las Vegas, Nevada. She begins by describing her upbringing in Las Vegas, the Westside community of Las Vegas, and attending Spellman College in Atlanta, Georgia. Rayford then discusses her involvement with Top Teens of America and how that program helps to prepare young girls for college. She continues, talking about the effectiveness of disciplinary action against students, her experiences from her first year of teaching, and headstart programs for students who live in poverty.

Oral history interview with Jim Bilbray conducted by Jeff van Ee on March 26, 2009 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. Bilbray first outlines his life from high school, to enlistment in the Army Reserve, attending American University, and working for Nevada Senator Howard Cannon. He then speaks of the different political philosophies in Northern Nevada versus Southern Nevada, the thinking in the mining industry, Sagebrush Rebellion, federal ownership of 86% of Nevada, the doughnut hole around the valley, Bureau of Land Management, hearings on environmental matters, taxation, and grazing laws.
