Allen Kightlinger oral history interview, approximately 2012 to 2013

Kightlinger became a member of the Douglas County Fire and Ambulance Company in 1972. In 1989 he moved to Elko, Nevada, and worked with the Regional Fire Management Office. In 1997 he became deputy chief of the Elko Fire Department, then chief in 2000, and he retired from that post in 2011.

Louis Lemaire oral history interview, 2013 February 09

Lemaire joined the Battle Mountain Volunteer Fire Department in 1977. He took basic EMT training while studying at the University of Nevada, Reno. He joined the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District in 1978 and worked there until his retirement in 2007.

John Mohler oral history interview, 2013 January 18

Mohler received a degree in biology from the University of Nevada, Reno. He began working for AIDS Ambulance at age 19. In 1977 he began teaching CPR classes, and in 1980 he became an EMT. He became an RN in 1985 and began flying for St. Mary's Hospital's Care Flight.

Perkins joined the Alamo Fire Department before receiving EMT training. In 1973 he began working for the Clark County Fire Department and received paramedic training. He retired from the Alamo Volunteer Fire Department in 1998 and the Clark County Fire Department in 2003.

Ed Tomany oral history interview, approximately 2012 to 2013

Scope and Contents

Tomany received first aid training from the US Forest Service and the US Army in the 1960s. In 1968 he started running on Tonopah, Nevada's ambulance service. Though he had to stop running in the 1970s, he restarted his ambulance career in 1985 and received his EMT certification that year.

Philis Beilfuss oral history interview, 2013 January 31

After receiving nursing and paramedic training in Chicago in 1973, Beilfuss moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1985 practiced emergency room services as Sunrise Hospital. She taught at Clark County Community College until 1996. She also served with the North Las Vegas Fire Department and the Southern Nevada Health Board, which included formulating EMS responses in Clark County.

Cheryl Kretschmer oral history interview, approximately 2012 to 2013

Kretschmer moved to Nevada in 1966 and got her EMT certification from Clark County Community College in 1970. She worked in the ambulance service in Pahrump, Nevada before moving to Tonopah, Nevada and working in the ambulance service there. She has been training EMT students in Nye, Lincoln, Esmeralda, and Mineral Counties for several decades.

After returning from the Vietnam War in 1973, Webb began taking EMT classes in Las Vegas, Nevada. Beginning in 1975, Webb served as a field representative in Humboldt, Lander, Eureka, Elko, and White Pine Counties in order to conduct EMT classes and tests, a job he did for the next nineteen years. After that, he served as the Elko ambulance service director until 2005.
