Dr. John S. Wright was born in Enid, Oklahoma to Ethel and Thomas Clayton Wright on May 1, 1910. He spent his youth in Newton, Illinois, and received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from the University of Illinois. He married Lucille Wilson in 1939. During World War II, he served in the United States Army He earned his doctorate from the University of Chicago. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1956 to teach at Nevada Southern University, now known as the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

James H. Down Jr. was born on December 19, 1907 to James H. Down Sr. and Eva Lucille Young in

Michigan. Down Jr. married Lucille McKenzie on August 31, 1931. He served as head of the Clark County

Chamber of Commerce, and later as Justice of the Peace in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was also a member of the Las Vegas Housing Authority for thirty-four years. He died on January 21, 1981 in Las Vegas.

Sandra Candel is a native of Guadalajara, Mexico, where she was raised by her maternal grandparents and extended family. She describes what she refers to as “a legacy of migrants” within her family including her often absent mother.

As a child she was instilled with a love of education and the value of hard work. As a young adult, she migrated to the United States, southern California specifically. There she joined her mother and began her higher education.

Tia Stone organized several protests and talks about the organizing steps involved in the rally and march from the Boulevard Mall to the Convention Center on Donald Trump's 74th birthday - June 14, 2020. The Boulevard Mall is at 3528 S. Maryland Parkway and the walk to the Convention Center at 3150 Paradise is 1.4 miles, an easy walk on most days. The organized crowd of approximately 800 people required more time than usual.

In contrast, Mach's San Diego upbringing was that of a working-class "American" child who connected with his Filipino heritage on his first visit to the Philippines as an adult.
