Abstract

The Nevada State Protection of Marriage Initiative Collection (2000) consists of Clark County, Nevada petition signatures in favor of the initiative to exclude gay and lesbian Nevadans from marriage. The "Protection of Marriage Initiative" was also known as Question Two on the ballot. Much of this material is photocopied from the Nevada State Archives and contains pages from Clark County, including Boulder City, as well as notable Southern Nevada signatures.

Abstract

The Culinary Workers Union Local 226 Las Vegas, Nevada Photographs document various activities of the Culinary Union, from the 1950s to 2006, with the bulk of the material documenting the 1990s. Prominently featured in the collection are various strikes, pickets, marches, parades, rallies, and demonstrations from the late 1980s to early 2000s. A large portion of these photographs documents the Frontier Strike of the 1990s. Also included are photographs of press conferences, political rallies, internal committee meetings, Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees (H.E.R.E.) conventions, and various social events. Materials contain photographic prints, photographic negatives, and a small number of slides.

From the Nye County, Nevada Photograph Collection (PH-00221) -- Series III. Beatty, Nevada -- Subseries III.B. Lisle Family. Back row, far left, Mr. Dees, teacher of Grades 5 through 8. Chloe Lisle, second from the left in the back row, taught grades 1 thought 4. Ert Moore, principal and high school teacher, is the bald- headed man standing next to Chloe Lisle. Robert Revert is the tall boy with glasses in the back row. Johnny Cobb is the tall boy next to Revert. In the front row at far left is Dewey Ishmael; Jack Crowell (blond-haired boy in the striped shirt) is sitting in the middle of the front row. Several Indian children attended the school. All others not identified.
