Oral history interview with Betty Saunders conducted by an unnamed interviewer on an unknown date in approximately 1995 to 2005 for the UNLV University Libraries Oral History Collection. In this interview, Saunders discusses her career in the U.S. Air Force. She describes the environment and culture including living quarters, training, and promotions. Saunders talks about her experience as an African American woman in the military including how marriage and pregnancy affected her.
The audiovisual series of the MGM Mirage Corporation Records dates from 1982 to 2005. The series contains videotapes and audiocassettes that contain B-roll of MGM Mirage properties, press conferences from sporting events, interviews with Steve Wynn, press announcements, and training videos. This series consists of master tapes and also contains videotapes with programs that aired on local and national networks. Format types represented include VHS, U-matic, Betacam, Betacam SP, Betamax and audiocassettes.
Oral history interview with Dennis Myers conducted by Dennis McBride on March 23, 2005 for the Las Vegas Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Archives Oral History Project. In this interview, Myers discusses meeting former Lieutenant Governor of Nevada, Fred S. Alward. Myers talks about the public's speculation surrounding Alward's sexual orientation and the impact that had on his career.
Oral history interview with Ann Ronzone conducted by Claytee D. White on July 19, 2005 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview, Ronzone discusses her personal history and arriving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1946. Ronzone recalls atomic bomb testing, local organizations that she was involved in, Ronzone's department store, and changes in Las Vegas.
Oral history interviews with Stella Butterfield conducted by Joanne L. Goodwin on October 14, 2005 and October 25, 2005 for the Women's Research Institute of Nevada (WRIN) Las Vegas Women Oral History Project. Butterfield opens her interviews discussing her family and childhood in the Bronx, New York, in the 1930s and 1940s. Butterfield then talks about her work for the U.S. Coast Guard as a typist during World War II and as a teletype operator for the U.S. Air Force. Butterfield then describes how her teletype operator job eventually moved her to Panama, and her experiences there. She then discusses her move with her husband Frank to Las Vegas, Nevada for his assignment at Nellis Air Force Base (AFB). Butterfield discusses becoming a court reporter at Nellis AFB and describes the city of Henderson, Nevada. Lastly, Butterfield talks about becoming a civilian court reporter for U.S. District Judge Roger T. Foley and her experiences as a freelance court reporter.
Oral history interviews with Jane Heenan conducted by Dennis McBride on June 21 and 28, and August 30, 2005 for the Las Vegas Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Archives Oral History Project. In the interviews, Heenan begins by clarifying the vocabulary used within the transgender and queer communities for self-identification, comparing these terms with terms used in the medical and psychological fields. They then discusses the distinction between gender identity and sexual orientation. Next, Heenan recalls growing up and in Chicago, Illinois, coming out in the 1990s, and undergoing sex reassignment surgery. Lastly, they talk about arriving in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1994, the Las Vegas transgender support and advocacy community, and Las Vegas transgender organizations.
Oral history interview with Martin Dean Dupalo conducted by Claytee D. White on October 24, 2005 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. Dupalo discusses living in Las Vegas, Nevada in the 1970s, attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), serving as an intelligence officer in the Air Force, and teaching at UNLV.
