Oral history interview with John West conducted by Claytee D. White on August 10, 2000 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview, West discusses his family background and arriving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1954. West describes his educational experiences in Las Vegas and his career as a clinical psychologist. He recalls his father’s career in medicine and becoming the first African American licensed medical doctor in Las Vegas. West then talks about attending entertainment events before race integration was introduced, and the voting patterns in West Las Vegas. Lastly, West discusses his father’s decision to remain living in West Las Vegas and operating his medical office there after integration.

Oral history interview with Florence Murphy conducted by K. J. Evans on September 04, 1998 for the Las Vegas Review-Journal First 100 Oral History Project. In the interview, Murphy discusses working as a pilot and manager at Sky Haven Airfield (North Las Vegas Airport) in the early 1940s and Alamo Airfield (McCarran International Airport) between the late 1940s and the 1950s in Las Vegas, Nevada. She describes her first time piloting an airplane in approximately 1936 when a barnstormer, a stunt pilot in flying circuses, offered public flights for civilians. Murphy also discusses her first time in an airplane as a child with her father, the grand opening of Sky Haven, and her experiences working for Bonanza Airlines.

Oral history interview with Fenton Tobler conducted by Mark Oakden on April 24, 2002 for the Public School Principalship Oral History Project. In this interview, Tobler reflects upon his 31-year career as a teacher and administrator with Nevada’s Clark County School District from the 1960s to the 1990s. He discusses his development of year-round programs, as well as programs that he proposed before the Nevada State Legislature. Oral history interview with Dr. Marshall Darnell conducted by Cynthia Johnson on November 07, 2001 for the Public School Principalship Oral History Project. In this interview, Dr. Darnell reflects upon his more than 30-year career as a teacher and administrator with the Clark County School District (CCSD) from 1960 to 1994. Darnell describes his approach to school administration, job duties as principal, and some of the biggest challenges that he faced. He discusses school integration and efforts to promote student diversity, as well as the increasing number of women administrators within CCSD.

Oral history interview with Robert Anaya conducted by Beatriz Romero on May 02, 2002 for the Public School Principalship Oral History Project. In this interview, Anaya reflects upon his 30-year career as a teacher and administrator in Texas, prior to working for Nevada’s Clark County School District (CCSD) in the 1990s. He discusses his upbringing and training that led to his becoming a teacher and eventually an administrator, and describes his philosophy of education. He discusses his relationships with school superintendents and the Board of Education as a principal, and his decision to retire and move to Las Vegas, Nevada to work with CCSD.
