C. -- After personally thanking Secretary of State Cordell Hull for his assistance in clearing the way for their round-the-world flight, Howard Hugehs and his four daring companions were guests at a luncheon of the National Press Club here, July 21st. Here Hughes is shown as he was congratulated at the club by Major General Oscar Westover, Chief of the Army Air Corps. Left to right: Howard Hughes, Constantine A. Typed onto a piece of paper attached to the image: "Flight's End - Floyd Bennett Field, N.Y. -- Propellers still whirling, the plane which carried Howard Hughes and four companions on their dramatic Round-The-World flight, taxis to a stop, on a runway there, flanked by an escort of motorcycle policemen. Paris-- When Howard Hughes, millionaire sportsman, brought his plane to a perfect landing at Le Bourget, he established a record for spanning the Atlantic. After making minor repairs, he left for Russia on the second lap of his world girdling flight. Photo shows Hughes, in center (grey suit), surrounded by welcomes after he left his plane."
