Description given with photo: "Cogitation Concentration Jubilation, Washington, D.C. - Three interesting studies of plane-builder, movie-maker and headline-maker Howard Hughes as he returned to the witness stand before the Senate War Investigating Committee today to answer questions relating to his wartime plane-building contracts. During his testimony today, Hughes said he wishes to absolve shipbuilder Henry Kaiser from any criticism in connection with the 200-ton flying boat that is one of the issues in the current probe. Handwritten description provided on stock card: "L-R: 1) Jessie Pearl Howard Johnson Manor; 2) Nancy Howard Copley; 3) Ollie Howard Lohr; 4) Mary Josephine (Baxter) Howard (seated). Photo probably taken in Oregon, ca. 1906." Additional information handwritten on a separate piece of paper: "1) Jessie Pearl Howard Johnson Manor; 2) Nancy Howard Copley (center standing); 3) Ollie Howard Lohr; 4) Mary Josephine (Baxter) Howard, seated. Aunt Nancy was about 5'7", very tall in our family. Grandmother Mary Josephine was only 4'10" and my mother Jessie Pearl was barely 5' tall. Aunt Ollie was about 5'2". Probably had Jessie and Ollie on boxes. Photo probably taken in Oregon. Jessie probably 14 or 15 when photo taken because family left Ore. when she was about 16 yrs. old. Mother born 1892 so picture ca 1906."

Description given with photo: "Wing of World's Largest Plane Moved, Culver city, Calif. - One of the two 34-ton wing sections of Howard Hughes' Hercules inches toward Los Angeles harbor from Culver City, Calif., on house-moving dollies. Moving along at two miles an hour to Terminal Island for assembly, the wings will be followed in the 28-mile journey in a few days by the fuselage. Second wing section can be seen in rear. Credit Line (ACME) 6/13/46."
