Description printed on photograph's accompanying sheet of paper: "On hand to welcome Hughes and his gallant crew New York City-- Looking down on a segment of the huge crowd that gathered at Floyd Bennett Field, July 14th, to greet the arrival of Howard Hughes and his picked crew of four at the end of their record-smashing flight around the world. The tops of the cars jamming the parking spaces were used as coigns of vantage. Credit Line (ACME) 7/14/38 (SS)"

Oral history interview with Judy and John L. Goolsby conducted by Stefani Evans and Claytee D. White on September 08, 2016 for the Building Las Vegas Oral History Project. John discusses moving to Las Vegas, Nevada with Summa Corporation in 1980 to manage the portfolio of Nevada properties owned by the Howard Hughes estate. He also describes developing the master-planned community of Summerlin, and his responsibility being president of Howard Hughes Corporation from 1988 to 1998. Judy discusses volunteering with and being president of Assistance League of Las Vegas.

Hawks, Howard, 1896-1977

Howard Hawks was a director and screenwriter who worked on Howard Hughes films including Scarface. He was born May 30, 1896 in Goshen, Indiana as Howard Winchester Hawks, and died December 26, 1977 in Palm Springs, California.
