In this interview, Keagy discusses her upbringing in Las Vegas, Nevada and growing up in the Scotch 80s neighborhood. She remembers raising horses, the use of water wells, and her parent’s relationship with the Wynn family.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Benilda Long Somes conducted by Vincent Long on November 29, 2021 for Reflections: The Las Vegas Asian American and Pacific Islander Oral History Project.

Benilda discusses her life in Magalang, Philippines and her immigration to Saipan, part of the Northern Mariana Islands, as a young woman. She talks about meeting her partner, airman Robert Long, the birth of their son, and Robert's untimely death in an air crash less than a year later. Benilda shares how she and her child immigrated to the United States to be with family and their move to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2009.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Roy Stinedurf Jr. conducted by Deborah J. Taylor on March 15, 1981 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In this interview, Stinedurf discusses the development and growth of Las Vegas, Nevada. Stinedurf recalls the earliest hotels and casinos including El Rancho, Desert Inn, Sahara, Riviera, Stardust, and The Royal Nevada. Later in the interview, Stinedurf discusses Las Vegas history regarding the development of casinos and the increase in local businesses. Stinedurf then describes natural resource management, specifically the use of water and explains how artesian springs were used at the time. Lastly, Stinedurf discusses desert warfare training during World War II.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Susan Molasky conducted by Barbara Tabach on March 11, 2014 for the Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project. In this interview, Susan Molasky discusses her childhood and teenage years growing up in London, England where she worked in a fabric store. Molasky also talks about originally coming to Las Vegas, Nevada with her first husband in the late 1950s. She discusses raising her children in Las Vegas, Nevada and her battle with ovarian cancer, which prompted her involvement in Nathan Adelson Hospice. She then discuss her life with second husband, Irwin Molasky, and the causes they are involved in.
