Description
The black and white, aerial view of Howard Hughes' Lockheed 14 aircraft performing its final landing on the Round the World flight at Floyd Bennett Airport, New York. Typed onto a piece of paper attached to the image: "Cars Jam Parking Spaces at Field as Hughes Arrives, New York City: Ann air-view of the thousands of cars at Floyd Bennett Field, July 14th, as welcomers streamed to the field from all directions to take part in the wild ovation accorded Howard Hughes and his gallant crew of four when they landed their great plane on the field 3 days, 19 hours, and 14 minutes after taking off on their flight around the world. Typed onto a piece of paper attached to the image: "All Roads Lead to Field as Hughes Arrives, New York City: This striking air-view shows the thousands of cars lined up at Floyd Bennett Field, July 14th, after they had disgorged their occupants who took part in the great ovation accorded Howard Hughes and his gallant crew of four as they arrived at the end of their record-smashing flight around the world. Note: It is possible that the word "Pinafore" mentioned on the cover of the menu refers to the well known Gibert and Sullivan comic opera called H.M.S. Pinafore. It was written in 1878. In 1899 this opera was revived at the Savoy Theater. It is assumed that this menu is from or the Savoy Hotel which was built next to the Savoy Theater Menu insert: Poems Restaurant: Savoy Hotel & Restaurant Location: London, England
