In this interview, Patricia Merl discusses her career as a professional dancer, working at the famous Radio City Music Hall, moving to Las Vegas, Nevada for opportunities in dancing, and moving to Florida for new possibilities. She also discusses teaching at the Hotel School at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and working as the Director of Gaming Outreach for the International Gaming Institute.
Oral history interview with Raya Meron conducted by Claytee D. White on July 14, 2014 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. Meron discusses her upbringing in Israel, moving to Istanbul with her husband, and immigrating to Canada after their divorce. Meron also talks about her career as a showgirl in Las Vegas, Nevada, including being in the Vive les Girls road show in 1965. She then discusses her involvement in helping Cambodian refugees.
Oral history interview with Joan and Leslie Dunn conducted by Barbara Tabach on June 20, 2016 and May 30, 2017 for the Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project. Leslie discusses working for the United States Public Health Service at the Nevada Test Site for twenty years and launching a development business after retirement. Joan discusses setting aside her career to begin a family and later becoming a business partner with her husband.
Oral history interview with DeRuyter O. Butler conducted by Stefani Evans and Claytee D. White on September 15, 2016 for the Building Las Vegas Oral History Project. Butler begins with discussing his early life and joining Steve Wynn's Atlandia Design in Atlantic City, New Jersey in 1982. He then talks about moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1986. The interview focuses on the design and development of various Las Vegas casinos.
The Joan Swift Papers (1989-1994) document Swift's activities as county recorder for Clark County, Nevada. The contents of this collection include photographs, speeches, congratulatory letters, candidate night invitations, county elected official biographies, campaign materials, Clark County newsletters, and news clippings. Photographs and a draft of Swift’s memoirs to her grandchildren are also included in this collection.
The Nevada Campaign for Choice Records (1987-1990) address the 1989-1990 pro-choice campaign regarding the legality of abortion and codifying Roe v. Wade in Nevada. Records include material on the campaign structure, finances, steering committee, minutes, campaign literature, correspondence, campaign buttons and stickers, mailing lists, clippings, two video tapes, and one audio tape.
The Anthony J. Franchini Papers date from 1915 to 1996 and contain the personal and professional papers of Anthony Franchini, a musician and composer. The collection contains newspaper clippings, personal correspondence, Franchini's United States Army records, sheet music, personal photographs, and a scrapbook compiled by Franchini.
This collection is unprocessed. The International Center for Responsible Gaming Records [UNPROCESSED] (approximately 1995-2023) mostly consist of the organization's grant files. The records also include conference programs, promotional material, photographs, and educational videotapes produced by the organization.
