Abstract

The Las Vegas Bugle Photograph Collection on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender History (1993-2002) consists of photographic prints, negatives, and contact sheets chronicling events and activities of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities throughout southern Nevada. Many of the photographs originally accompanied newspaper articles published in the Las Vegas Bugle.

The Cork Proctor Photograph Collection (1960s-1980s) primarily contains black-and-white photographic reproductions of early Las Vegas, Nevada; the Cal-Neva Lodge at Lake Tahoe, Nevada; and various celebrities. The collection also includes black-and-white photographic prints of the Helldorado Parade. Cork Proctor was a comedian who performed throughout Nevada and the United States.

The collection includes a wide variety of photographs that document the activities, landmarks, geographical features, towns, ranches, and families of Nye County. The collection covers the areas of Amargosa Valley, Ash Meadows, Beatty, Duckwater, Gabbs, Goldfield, Kawich Mountains, Manhattan, Pahrump, Round Mountain, Rhyolite, Smoky Valley, Springdale, Tecopa, Tonopah, and Twin Springs. The activities documented include mining, prospecting, herding animals, schooling, ranching, building construction, railroad construction, and hunting and fishing.

The Neon in Nevada Photograph Collection contains black-and-white and color photographic slides of neon signs from cities and towns in Nevada dating from 1913 to 1989. The collection includes slides from Las Vegas, Reno, Boulder City, Laughlin, Henderson, Lovelock, Winnemucca, Elko, Wells, McGill, Ely, Eureka, Austin, Hawthorne, and Carson City. The collection also includes slides from the Young Electric Sign Company (YESCO) that depict the "sign graveyard" in Las Vegas, Nevada of broken and retired neon signs.

The Irma McGonagill Photograph Collection (1870-1925) consists of thirty black-and-white photographic prints, ten postcards, and fourteen photographic negatives showing Irma McGonagill and her family in Tonopah, Nevada during the mining boom. The images depict the town of Tonopah, mines around the Tonopah area, homes in Tonopah, and the McGonagill family.
