From the Nye County, Nevada Photograph Collection (PH-00221) -- Series V. Smoky Valley, Nevada and Round Mountain, Nevada -- Subseries V.A. Carver, Carver-Duhme, and Carver-Book Families (Smoky Valley). The ranch consisted of two parts: about 300 acres located along the present route of Highway 376, a few miles north of the site of the town of Round Mountain, Nevada; and 640 acres located about two miles due east of the first part of the ranch. Carver purchased the first part of the ranch from Ed Turner, who had been in the meat business in Round Mountain, where he operated a butcher shop in the early days of the town. Carver purchased the second part from Mimosa Pittman, widow of Nevada Senator Key Pittman. Pittman had acquired the property from the federal government under the Pittman Act, an act which allowed individuals to acquire federal lands.

Abstract
The Rick L. May Papers document social and political activities of Las Vegas, Nevada's lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community from 1982 to 1997. The papers include records from the Gay Academic Union of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas; various gay pride celebrations in Los Angeles, California and Las Vegas; the Metropolitan Community Church's outreach to the LGBT community; as well as Rick L. May's own notes and collections about LGBT-supportive stores like R and R Assordid Sundries. The collection also includes several t-shirts that commemorate the pride celebrations. The papers demonstrate how the pride celebrations that began in 1984 were the result of efforts from several sectors of Las Vegas' LGBT community.

Collection is comprised of records (approximately 1979 to 2016) created by the Southern Nevada Association of Women Attorneys (SNAWA). The collection contains administrative files from past SNAWA board members including past SNAWA presidents, secretaries, and treasures. The collection also includes records such as attendee lists, registration forms, and seminar evaluation forms from continuing legal education (CLE) events organized by SNAWA for attorneys in Southern Nevada.
