Oral history interviews of Westside School alumni conducted by Claytee D. White on March 20, March 29, April 27, and June 22, 2010 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project.

Alumni of the Historic Westside School of Las Vegas, also known as the Las Vegas Grammar School, gathered in 2010 to celebrate the official registration of the school as a historic site in the city. These alumni discussed their education, what they remember of the school, their teachers, and what life was like in Las Vegas at that time.

The individuals interviewed are: Jackie Y. Brantley, Eugene Buford, Margaret (Addison) Coleman, Regina Cone, Shirley Edmond, Frank Harris, Otis Harris, Tisha Harris, Willie B. (Jones) Jackson, Jerry Neal, Sadie Marie Prentiss, Calvin Wallace Jr., Nathaniel Whaley, and Cleophis Williams.

Oral history interview with Leo Dunbar conducted by Dennis McBride on June 16, 1986 for the Boulder City Library Oral History Project. In this interview, Dunbar gives a brief history of the Bureau of Reclamation (Bureau of Land Management) and the beginning of his life-long career with that agency, first working on two major projects in Colorado. He then discusses how The Six Companies won their bid to build the Hoover Dam, the establishment of the federal reservation that would house Boulder City, and the growth and development of both the city and the dam project.

Oral history interview with Henry Zigtema conducted by Cheryl Stewart on February 27, 1977 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Zigtema shares personal stories regarding his arrival to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1929, and the development of the city.

Oral history interview with Kaku Makino and Julie Kano conducted by Kristel Peralta, Vanessa Concepcion, Ayrton Yamaguchi, and Stefani Evans on March 22, 2021 for the Reflections: The Las Vegas Asian American and Pacific Islander Oral History Project. In this interview, Makino discusses his early life in Tokyo, Japan and becoming a chef. He recalls arriving to the United States in 1989, establishing the Todai (now Makino Sushi & Seafood Buffet) restaurant chain, and opening nineteen locations in California, Florida, and in Hawaii. Kano talks about her upbringing in Otsu, Shiga Prefecture, Japan and describes Japan during the Meiji era. She remembers arriving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2000 and the cultural change she experienced. Lastly, Makino and Kano discuss the restaurant industry during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Oral history interview with Charles Russell conducted by Stacy Petrelli on April 12, 2003 for the Public School Principalship Oral History Project. In this interview, Russell reflects upon his nearly 30-year career in school administration in Highland Park, Michigan. He discusses his leadership style as an elementary, middle, and high school principal, and his philosophy of being a leader in the school.

Oral history interview with Donnie Pomeray conducted by an unspecified individual in approximately 2006 for the History of Blue Diamond Village in Nevada Oral History Project. In this interview, Pomeray reflects upon his upbringing in Blue Diamond, Nevada. He discusses where he grew up, his leisure activities, and community life.

Oral history interview with Rita M. Zajac conducted by Edward Napierkowski on March 06, 1977 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In this interview Zajac discusses her recollection of Nevada politics during the 1960s.
