Oral history interview with Robert Bruce Smith conducted by Dr. David Emerson on June 13, 2006 for the UNLV @ 50 Oral History Project. Horsford begins by discussing his family's Trinidadian ancestry and how his family came to move to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1969. He describes living in the Berkley Square neighborhood, his education, and how he developed his interest in pursuing a career in politics. Horsford continues, discussing his grandmother, his children, and his experiences growing up in the African American community of Las Vegas. Other topics of discussion include his family traditions, his wife, and attending the University of Nevada, Reno.

Images depict scenes from the annual Helldorado Celebration in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Shriners’ Parade in downtown Las Vegas, various hotels along the Las Vegas Strip, the Last Frontier Village at the Last Frontier Hotel, Las Vegas, natural landscapes at Mount Charleston and Rhyolite, Nevada, Hoover Dam and Lake Mead, Twin Lakes, and petroglyphs in Valley of Fire Nevada State Park.
