Abstract

The Dan Lovil Audiovisual Collection (approximately 1970-2000) contains examples of commercial production work created by Dan Lovil who was a video tape operator in the televisions production industry in Las Vegas, Nevada. The collection includes examples of Lovil's work on commercials for local businesses such as Christensen Jewelers and Discount Furniture Mart as well as directing and editing Las Vegas City Council, County Commission meetings.

Abstract

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas Theses, Dissertations, and Honors Papers (approximately 1967-2024) contain the physical copies of the theses, dissertations, and honors papers filed by students of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) from 1967 to 2024. There are approximately 5,756 titles that originate from a wide variety of departments across the UNLV campus, including (but not limited to): history, criminal justice, fine arts, engineering, and the sciences. Electronic theses and dissertations (2017-2020) were transferred to UNLV University Archives for preservation purposes and are not accessible through Special Collections. Specific instructions for viewing those items can be found in the inventory.

The Kenneth Reim Photographs of Las Vegas, Nevada (1951-1954) consist of seven mounted color 35mm slides that Reim took while living in Las Vegas, Nevada. Images depict the Sands and Sahara hotels, Klein's Market located at Charleston and Main Street, Hoover Dam, a library, Fremont street, and the Las Vegas Park Speedway.

Abstract

The Richard Taylor Collection on Moulin Rouge Hotel History contains documents that provide information on a short-term lease of the shuttered Moulin Rouge Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada in December 1956. The collection contains a lease between Harry Miller (trustee in bankruptcy) and Richard Taylor for a short term lease of the hotel; a certificate of fictitious firm name submitted by Richard Taylor; a press release issued by Harry Miller on behalf of the hotel; and three Moulin Rouge guest register tags.

The Ken Easley Photographs for Del Webb Corporation in Nevada (approximately 1979-1988) consist of photographic slides, transparencies, prints, contact sheets, and negatives depicting various Del Webb Corporation properties throughout Nevada, including the Nevada Club Hotel and Casino in Laughlin, The Mint Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, the High Sierra Hotel and Casino (formerly Del Webb’s Sahara Tahoe) in Stateline, and the master-planned development of Sun City Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada. The photographs document interiors, exteriors, and signage; restaurants, bars, and lounges; gaming activities; and promotions and events.

Rico Izaguirre Collection of Harrah's Entertainment Records

Abstract

The Rico Izaguirre Collection of Harrah’s Entertainment Records (approximately 2003-2009) is comprised of records relating to employee engagement initiatives specific to the Atlantic City, New Jersey properties operated by Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc. The initiatives include “Winning Together,” a program intended to boost employees’ political engagement during the 2004 election season in the United States, and “Code Green,” an environmental sustainability program. The materials consist of manager’s handbooks, strategic plans, correspondence, annual reports, awards, and marketing materials, such as posters and newsletters. The collection also includes digital design files for various internal communications and Code Green brochures, handbooks, and fliers.
