Hodges, James Arnold

James Arnold Hodges was born on September 18, 1931 in Kansas City, Missouri. James married Zora on April 22, 1951 and they had four children: James Arnold III, Catherine, Jeffery Cooper, and Jonathan Blake.

Hodges was enlisted in the United States Army under Military Occupation Specialty 1805 in Korea from 1952 to 1954.

Hodges is affiliated with the Nevada Test Site as a photo engineer for Edgerton, Germeshausen, and Grier, Inc.(EG&G) from 1956 to 1971.

Brown, John Joseph, 1924-2009

John Joseph Brown was born on June 4, 1924, in Brooklyn, New York. John married Margaret A. on October 10, 1950, and they had five children: Michael G. Brown; James F. Brown; Daniel E. Brown; Jacqueline M. Brown; and Elizabeth H. Brown.

Brown was the Radiological Safety Supervisor at the Nevada Test Site.

Brown received his GED while in the United States Navy. Brown was enlisted in the United States Naval Force for twenty-two years (1941 to 1963). Brown had previously worked as a seaman on a ship and with nuclear weapons.

Nutley, Richard Van

Richard Van Nutley was born on August 17, 1935, in Yakima, Washington. Richard married Elsie May (née Schockley) on July 26, 1959. Elsie passed away on August 26, 1995, but they had two children during their time together: James and Peggy.

Nutley was enlisted in the United States Army Reserve.

Nutley obtained a master's of systems management degree from the University of Southern California.

Vitale, Louis John

Louis John Vitale was born on June 1, 1932, in San Gabriel, California. In 1954, Vitale earned his bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Los Angeles (UCLA). He attended an old mission theological seminary in 1964. Vitale obtained a doctor of philosophy degree in sociology from the University of Los Angeles in 1974.

Martin, Phyllis

Phyllis Martin worked for the City of North Las Vegas Office of Economic Development in the 1980s and 1990s, where she held various positions including economic development specialist and economic development administrator. Martin also served as the secretary-treasurer for the board of directors of the Friends of Kiel Ranch Historical Site, and as the historian for the 1988 Kiel Ranch Historic American Building Survey. She was also interested in the Nevada Women's History Project, which aimed to highlight women important to Nevada's history.

Walker, Prentiss

Prentiss Walker was born October 18th, 1910 on an Indian reservation in Comanche County in southwestern Oklahoma. His youth was spent in Stockton, California, and Phoenix, Arizona. His father had been a minister in the Methodist Pentecostal Church. In 1933 he came to Las Vegas, Nevada. He worked in various places including at a café, the Mercury Test Site, a trailer park, a used car lot, and multiple retail stores. In 1956 he was ordained into the ministry of the Baptist Church.

Yoxen, Louise

Louise Yoxen worked in Germany at the end of World War II participating in our

occupation efforts with France, Great Britain, and Russia. Continuing with

U.S. State Department work, she accepted the next assignment in North Africa.

Originally from Florence, Alabama, Yoxen's work in Germany and Africa finally

brought her to Las Vegas in 1951.

Yoxen met her husband here, raised two children, and worked in the family's

construction business. They helped build Sam Boyd Stadium, structures at Nellis Air

Hall, Ashley, 1943-

Ashley Hall was born April 3, 1943 in Caliente, Nevada. After high school, he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad at the Nevada Test Site as a cashier and as a signalman. He later attended Brigham Young University and the University of Nevada, Reno. After college, Hall served the City of Las Vegas, Nevada as City Manager. He was instrumental in the initial development of Summerlin, Nevada. After retiring from local politics, he remained active as the President of the Old Spanish Trail Association and as the United States Army Reserve Ambassador.
