Scope and Contents

The Bergman Walls & Associates architectural drawings contains projects with scanned digital copies of their physical drawings dating between 1997 and 2017. The digital material also include presentation files, renderings, computer generated drawings, and scanned drawings uniquely available only in digital formats in physical formats. These files are available as access copies generated from four USB flash drives obtained from BWA.

When available, project numbers refer to the original project identification numbers used by BWA for filing purposes. Project number "000000" refer to unbuilt or conceptual drawings and projects filed but not properly identified. Clients refer to the individual, corporation, or group a project is designed for. Location refers to a project's proposed site, current site, or previously existing site of construction.

Also included are unscanned drawings containing unique renderings, sketches, and prints of computer generated drawings only with no digital components or counterparts.

Kenneth Giles Professional Papers

Abstract

The Kenneth Giles Professional Papers (1964-2001) contain documents and visual material related to Giles's time as an Environmental Radiation Monitor for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) at the Nevada Test Site (NTS). Photographic slides, film, and digital images depict the general flora and fauna throughout the area surrounding the NTS. Visual materials also document specific mule deer and steer surveillance and testing at the EPA Farm located within the NTS. The collection also contains environmental reports written or collected by Giles, government documents, pamphlets, and newspaper clippings related to environmental monitoring and Giles's work at NTS. A small portion of the collection documents his brief role providing monitoring support at Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania in 1979. Note: Some images may be of a graphic or disturbing nature and may not be suitable for some users. Photographs may contain scenes of animal testing or other objectionable imagery.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Paul Sorensen conducted by Bill Friday on February 27, 1979 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In this interview, Sorensen discusses the history of Clark County and Las Vegas, Nevada. Sorensen discusses education in Las Vegas, reasons for the growth of Clark County, and the establishment of the Nevada Test Site. Sorensen later describes how Las Vegas and its school system has changed, and discusses who he believes are moving to live in Las Vegas the most. Sorensen goes on to discuss racial segregation in Las Vegas and racial integration in the schools via busing.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Beverlee and Ivan Cannon conducted by Claytee D. White on April 12, 2011 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview, the Cannons discuss their personal histories and living in Las Vegas, Nevada during the 1950s. Beverlee Cannon describes her father's ice company, and later describes the work she and Ivan did for the Nevada Test Site and Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico while contracted through Reynolds Electrical & Engineering Company. Ivan Cannon talks about his time in the United States Navy during World War II and working for the Southern Nevada Telephone Company. The couple also jointly discuss divorcing their former spouses so they could marry each other and going to India to study transcendental meditation, later bringing back what they learned and teaching people in the United States.
