Oral history interview with Gus Mancuso conducted by Lisa Gioia-Acres on September 27, 2008 for the All That Jazz Oral History Project. Jazz musician Gus Mancuso (Ronald Bernard Mancuso) discusses his career playing trombone and double bass in various musical groups and serving in the Army band as a piano player. He also talks about moving to Las Vegas in 1955, playing in bands at various casinos, touring Europe with Sarah Vaughan and teaching in the music department at University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).

In this interview Nancy Master discusses moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1980 and getting a job at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) in 1981. She also discusses teaching library skills, history, and political science at UNLV.

Oral history interview with Allan Stump conducted by Jack R. Hall on February 18, 1980 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In this interview, Stump discusses growing up in Las Vegas, Nevada and his career as a firefighter in the Clark County Fire Department. Stump describes how Las Vegas has changed and the construction boom during the 1960s. He goes on to discuss his life as a firefighter and tells several anecdotes about his calls.

Oral history interview with Lestor Burgwardt conducted by Connie Carr on February 09, 1980 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Burgwardt covers local entertainment, Lake Mead, school districts, and gaming’s effect on the educational system. He also recalls his move to Nevada and offers a general overview of Henderson, Nevada in 1954.

Oral history interview with Edward Gregory conducted by Jonathan R. Bellingar on March 2, 1977 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Gregory discusses leaving Nevada to serve in the Army during World War II before eventually returning to Nevada in 1950. In this interview, Neal discusses her upbringing and migration from the South, her marriage and move to Las Vegas, Nevada, her work in the back-of-the-house at multiple casino-hotels, the Black church and the influence of the Culinary Union.

Oral history interview with Lloyd Bell conducted by Perry Kaufman on April 12-13, 1972 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. This interview begins with Bell discussing advancements in technology have affected police relations with the community, particularly in the context of the transition from “beat” policing to vehicle patrol. Bell also discusses the advantages and disadvantages between having an elected sheriff versus an appointed police chief. The interview continues into a discussion of county licensing requirements as they relate to businesses and the influence of organized crime. Bell additionally discusses specific organized crime figures and prostitution.
