Abstract

Oral history interview with Jeanne Brown conducted by Claytee D. White on November 07, 2017 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview, Brown discusses her upbringing and growing up in a family who moved often. She talks about her initial interest in library science, and compares working as a university librarian to working as a public librarian. Brown remembers arriving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1978, joining the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Architecture Library, and the construction of the UNLV School of Architecture building. Lastly, Brown discusses the future of UNLV Libraries.

Oral history interviews with David London conducted by Joyce Moore on March 10, 1998, March 18, 1998, and March 24, 1998 for the Arnold Shaw Oral History Project in Las Vegas Entertainers. In these interviews, London discusses his early life and career as a singer. He remembers working at the Riviera Hotel, singing on a cruise line, and deciding to change his last name. Later, London talks about entertainment in Las Vegas, Nevada during the 1960s.

Oral history interview with Leandrew Winston conducted by Claytee White on August 03, 2016 for the African Americans in Las Vegas: a Collaborative Oral History Project. Winston describes his migration from Arkansas to California and then to Las Vegas, Nevada where he encountered racism in an overt manner until his press pass allowed him to enter communities of non-blacks more easily. He also discusses working with Vegas PBS and KCEP.
