Oral history interview with Debbie Conway conducted by Claytee White on March 03, 2013 for the African Americans in Las Vegas: a Collaborative Oral History Project. In this interview Debbie Conway speaks about how in 2007 she was the first African American to be elected as the County Recorder in Clark County and in the State of Nevada. She also talked about how she has held various other roles such as Clark County’s Business Development Manager, co-founder of the Summer Business Institute, and producer/host of an economics talk show on KCEP radio.

Oral history interview with John Cahlan conducted by James Weslowski on April 10, 1978 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Cahlan discusses his memory of the beginning of Nellis Air Force Base, originally named the Las Vegas Aerial Gunnery School for the Army Air Corps. He also discusses the role of the city commissioners in establishing Nellis as a permanent airbase, as well as the role of Western Air Express, a commercial air company which eventually became Western Airlines.

Oral history interview with Alexander Zapata conducted by Nathalie Martinez on February 15, 2020 for the Latinx Voices of Southern Nevada Oral History Project. In this interview, Zapata discusses growing up in Caracas, Venezuela. He describes Venezuelan traditions he participated in, becoming a news reporter, and earning a journalism degree in Venezuela. Zapata talks about his move to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2015, his early impressions of the city, and obtaining positions at Telemundo, Univision, and El Mundo newspaper. Later, Zapata discusses United States politics, the Las Vegas Latinx community, and the political situation in Venezuela.

In this interview, Burt reflects on the positions he held in numerous famous Las Vegas, Nevada Strip casinos, the celebrities he hired and befriended, and offers a unique look at the behind the scenes marketing and entertainment strategies that he helmed. He shares stories of becoming entrenched in casino operations and his reflections of union experiences.

Oral history interview with Lois Bell conducted by Sam Cusimano on unknown date for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Bell discusses her time as a cocktail waitress in various casinos, including her experiences of waiting on various celebrities. Bell also describes the changes of the Las Vegas Strip, her account of witnessing atomic testing events, and her position at Roxie’s, a brothel that existed during the early days of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Oral history interview with Priscilla Alexander conducted by Norman Vallata on 1976 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Alexander was born in Southern California, and in approximately 1952 Alexander relocated to Nevada with her aunt and her uncle who worked in the gambling industry. During the interview Alexander discusses gambling ships in Southern California, early above-ground atomic testing, Nevada’s gambling industry, buffets in the early days on the Las Vegas Strip, and working for Howard Hughes.

Oral history interview with Fred Gibson conducted by David Emerson on February 13, 2008 for the UNLV @ 50 Oral History Project. In this interview Fred Gibson discusses organizing Pacific Engineering and Production Company of Nevada with his father in 1955, being a trustee director of the Nevada Development Authority, and helping with organizing an engineering school at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
