Postcard from Mount Hood, Oregon, sent from "Lois" to Mr. & Mrs. Ed Giles in Goldfield, Nevada. Letter reads: "Lois Casman(?), Portland, Oregon. Dear Mr. & Mrs. Giles, Just a note to tell you we are having a nice rest among the trees and roses. I do wish, though, that Ihad an airplane. I would sail to Goldfield the first thing. If you have time, write me a few lines, telling me the 'news.' Love, Lois."

The buckskin hunt of October 4, 1936, a the head of Kingston Canyon on the Nevada National Forest. Eight hunters went out at 4:30 a.m. and came back that evening with eight buckskin. Left to right: James E. Gurr, George C. Larson, Roscoe Thomas, C.J. Olsen, James Cashman, Vail Pittman, Ivan L. Dyreng, and Bill William.

Description

The buckskin hunt of October 4, 1936, a the head of Kingston Canyon on the Nevada National Forest. Eight hunters went out at 4:30 a.m. and came back that evening with eight buckskin. Description

Eight buckskin killed October 4, 1936 by annual hunting party. The bucks weighed an average of about 155 pounds. The largest weighed 192 pounds, and the smallest weighed approximately 100 pounds. All deer were killed on the opening day of the season in Lander County, Kingston Canyon, Nevada National Forest, Nevada.

After lunch Don Gondolfa snaps a picture of Jim Cashman, Vail Pittman, Charlie Dunwoody, Key Pittman, Claude Mackay, Chet Olsen, George Larson, and Bill Williams. This was at lunch time on the second day. Some difficulty was experienced in waking Jim Cashman up long enough to get a picture.

Back of postcard. Some of the words are difficult to read. Sent to Laura Stewart in Huntington Park, California by Lillian Davis. Reads: "Dear Laura - Your pictures were too great a temptation for me. Left L. A. a week ago yesterday up through Bishop to Yosemite, then Lake Tahoe and Reno. --- is making money here. Had a heavy rain storm yesterday. Nice weather now."
