Abstract

Oral history interview with Harry F. Spargo conducted by James M. Greene on October 14, 1974 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In this interview, Spargo discusses his career as a miner. Spargo describes life as the son of a miner before following in his father's footsteps, becoming a miner himself, and working in the mines of the American West. Spargo goes on to describe arriving in Goldfield, Nevada in 1911, before moving on to other areas in Nevada mining precious metals for various companies.

Oral history interview with Vernon G. Stockall conducted by Stephanie Aylward on February 11, 1979 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In this interview, Stockall discusses arriving to Pioche, Nevada in 1935 as a miner. Stockall then describes the early aboveground atomic tests that were done at the Nevada Test Site. Stockall later shares his thoughts on the growth of gaming in Las Vegas, Nevada. Stockall also recalls the growth of Boulder City, Nevada and the construction of Boulder (Hoover) Dam.

Oral history interview with Vernon G. Stockall conducted by Aurora Wright on March 07, 1981 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In this interview, Stockall discusses arriving in Boulder City, Nevada in 1935 and describes how the Great Depression caused people to migrate westward. He then recalls working as a pipe fitter at the Hoover Dam (Boulder Dam) and explains the type of work that he did. Lastly, Stockall discusses the growth of Las Vegas, Nevada as the population increased.

In this interview, Stout discusses his involvement in church activities, recreational activities in Las Vegas, Nevada, and explains the Las Vegas economy during World War II. He then talks about the construction of the Red Rooster and Flamingo Hotel. Stout goes on to describe underground atomic testing and the development of casinos on the Las Vegas Strip.

In this interview, Cameron discusses the lesbian community in Las Vegas, Nevada, the organization Women of Nevada (WUN), and founding the organization, L Club. She describes other lesbian organizations and clubs that she was a member of and explains why gay clubs were important in forming supportive communities. Lastly, Cameron talks about the disbandment of the L Club.

In this interview, Parcell discusses moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1942 to teach soldiers at the Las Vegas Army Air Forces Gunnery School, now Nellis Air Force Base. He discusses the school and the types of information he taught the soldiers. Parcell also discusses the development of the downtown and Strip areas of Las Vegas.

Oral history interview with Dale Kimball conducted by Dennis McBride on May 16, 1999 and January 1, 2001 for the Las Vegas Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Archives Oral History Project. In this interview, Kimball discusses their personal impressions of and historical information about the people who donated to the Nevada Coalition for the Protection of Marriage, an organization which opposed same sex marriage. The interview consists entirely of Kimball reading through a list of donors to the Coalition and providing personal anecdotes on each individual.

Triolo begins the interview talking about other families that had lived in Calico Basin, Nevada. He speaks about how he met Vera Krupp and Buster Wilson. Triolo describes his time in Calico Basin and briefly mentions living in Alaska in 1952. Lastly, he talks about horses and George Heyer.
