Oral history interviews with Michael Chin conducted by Jerwin Tiu, Cecilia Winchell, and Stefani Evans on December 20, 2022 for Reflections: the Las Vegas Asian American and Pacific Islander Oral History Project. In this interview, Chin describes growing up in a largely Americanized household. His paternal grandparents immigrated from China and owned a laundry shop that his father worked in as well. Chin discusses his education and his interest in creative writing, including editing the school newspaper and writing an a cappella blog with his friend while in college. After graduating, he worked at the John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth as a resident assistant before getting into a graduate program and obtaining his MFA.

Oral history interview with Andre Long conducted by Robert Howe on April 26, 2007 for the Public School Principalship Oral History Project. In this interview, Long reflects upon his experience as an administrator with Nevada’s Clark County School District (CCSD). He discusses how he became an administrator, and how his training influenced his approach to school administration. He describes his regular responsibilities and challenges, and provides his opinion on topics such as No Child Left Behind, standardized testing, and central office administration.

Oral history interview with Bill Garis conducted by Laurie Hackett on March 29, 2004 for the Public School Principalship Oral History Project. In this interview, Garis reflects upon his 11 years as a principal with Nevada’s Clark County School District (CCSD). He discusses his approach to school administration and working relationships with teachers and other administrators, and offers suggestions for individuals interested in pursuing school administration. He also discusses his responsibilities as principal of Boulder City High School and Sierra Vista High School.

Oral history interview with Pat Moreo conducted by Claytee D. White on September 13, 2007 for the UNLV @ 50 Oral History Project. Moreo discusses his impressions of Las Vegas, Nevada in 1967. He talks about living in Tonopah Hall, the first dorm on campus at The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Moreo then mentions introducing The Bistro as part of a senior management course, building staff, and opinions on food, and hospitality. Moreo finishes with the importance of sports to UNLV, mentions of Jerry Tarkanian and the Runnin' Rebels, plans and opinions on the future of the Hotel College, and interconnectedness of various departments.

Oral history interview with Houghton Peterson conducted by Claytee D. White on May 20, 2010 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. Peterson discusses playing the trombone in the United States Air Force jazz band, “Airmen of Note.” He also discusses moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1962 and playing the trombone in various shows.

Oral history interview with Rosamond McDougal conducted by Concepcion Fernandez on February 14, 1979 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In this interview, McDougal discusses the history of education in Southern Nevada. She specifically talks about University of Nevada, Las Vegas and her experiences as an educator.

Oral history interview with J.K. Houssels Sr. conducted by an unknown collector on November 12, 1975 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Houssels discusses his ownership of the Las Vegas Club casino on Fremont Street in Las Vegas, Nevada in the 1930s. Houssels also discusses other casino partnerships that he invested in, and the casino business.
