Abdul-Jabbar, Kareem, 1947-

Bio taken from Wiki: "Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (born Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor Jr.; April 16, 1947) is an American retired professional basketball player who played 20 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Milwaukee Bucks and the Los Angeles Lakers. During his career as a center, Abdul-Jabbar was a record six-time NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP), a record 19-time NBA All-Star, a 15-time All-NBA selection, and an 11-time NBA All-Defensive Team member.

Bass, Burt

Burton Bass (1932- ) is a photographer and owner of Burton Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York and practiced photography from the time he was a child. Bass opened his first professional photography studio in 1962, shortly after he married Wilma Frank in 1960. In 1974 the couple moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where Bass worked for his brother-in-law Ed Frank's check cashing businesses. In 1979 Bass opened his own photography business, Burton Studio. He later added services such as fingerprinting, background checks, and photographs for identification cards.

Hornsby, Len (1924-2000)

Len Hornsby (1924-2000) was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from Emerson College with a communications degree and attended the University of Missouri before serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

Len’s work career brought him to Las Vegas and resided here for 38 years. In 1968, he was assistant sales manager of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and soon became the sales manager. By March 1971, he was named director of convention sales and for eight years ran LVCVA.

Jewish Genealogy Society of Southern Nevada, West

The Jewish Genealogy Society of Southern Nevada (JGSSN), established in 1989, is a chapter of the International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies (IAJGS) and “is dedicated to researching and preserving Jewish family history in the United States and throughout the world.” In its early days, JGSSN met in the library in Temple Beth Sholom, but by the late 1990s, it became inactive. In 1998 Carole Montello reorganized and revitalized the Society. It offers free monthly classes, compiles resources on its website, and connects members who help each other research family history.

Mack, Judith "Judy", 1937-

udy Mack is a Las Vegas, Nevada philanthropist and a Holocaust survivor. Judy Mack was born Judith Szrut on December 11, 1937 in Warsaw, Poland. She left Germany in 1949 and went to San Francisco, California with her grandmother. She married Ronald Mack (originally Makovsky) in 1956 and moved to Reno, Nevada with him in 1959. In 1990 the couple moved to Las Vegas. Judy Mack is a major supporter of the Sperling Kronberg Mack Holocaust Resource Center in Las Vegas, which is named in part after her and her husband.
