Oral history interview with Louis La Porta conducted by Stefani Evans and Claytee D. White on November 4, 2016 for the Building Las Vegas Oral History Project. La Porta first discusses arriving at Las Vegas Air Force Base in 1944 and going to work at the Basic Magnesium plant, which soon closed down. He then talks about how he and his wife became involved in the growth of Henderson, Nevada. La Porta also recalls his service for two terms on the first Henderson city council (1954-1960) and then serving on the Clark County Commission (1960-1969).
Oral history interview with Sari and Paul Aizley conducted by Stefani Evans and Claytee D. White on November 04, 2016 for the Building Las Vegas Oral History Project. Both narrators discuss the growth of the American Civil Liberties Union in Southern Nevada. Sari talks about working for the Las Vegas Review-Journal as promotions editor and Paul discusses teaching in the math department at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Oral history interview with Billie Mae Polson conducted by Eva Diane Head on March 08, 1978 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In this interview, Polson discusses arriving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1947. She also describes her employment at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) James R. Dickinson Library (now Lied Library) and recalls the construction of the Library's upper floors. Later, Polson discusses the Library's switch to an automated circulation system.
Oral history interview with Juan Saa conducted by David G. Schwartz on November 21, 2016 for the Slot Operations Oral History Project. Saa discusses his start in the technical side and his eventual move into an operational role in the casino industry. He talks about his experience as a director, specifically the responsibilities involved, and the type of staff being supervised. Saa then describes what he believes are the biggest changes in the slot industry, specifically with ticket-in, ticket-out (TITO); and slot analysis.
Oral history interview with Rochelle Hornsby conducted by Barbara Tabach on November 30, 2016 for the Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project. Hornsby arrived in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1962 when her former husband Len took a position with a local radio station. Her sales talent led her into promotional sales for conventions and she talks about her former husband's and her careers in Las Vegas. For over twenty years she has been a residential real estate agent. She also talks about volunteering with the Temple Beth Sholom Sisterhood, and the 25th Anniversary celebration of Israel.
Oral history interview with Mike Gausling conducted by David G. Schwartz on December 7, 2016 for the Slot Operations Oral History Project. In his interview Gausling discusses his forty years in the casino industry. He talks about the positives and negatives in the field of slot management and the differences between local and Strip casino properties.
