After returning from the Vietnam War in 1973, Webb began taking EMT classes in Las Vegas, Nevada. Beginning in 1975, Webb served as a field representative in Humboldt, Lander, Eureka, Elko, and White Pine Counties in order to conduct EMT classes and tests, a job he did for the next nineteen years. After that, he served as the Elko ambulance service director until 2005.

Wilson moved to Elko, Nevada in 1988 after serving in the military as a field medic. He took the EMT training course to re-certify. Wilson worked in mine rescue in the Elko area as well.

Wartgow took EMT classes in Smith Valley, Nevada shortly after graduating high school in 1981. In 1982 he began volunteering with the ambulance service.

In 1991 Wilkening was recruited as the first female member of the Lovelock Volunteer Fire Department in Lovelock, Nevada. She took fire instruction in Fallon, Nevada, and EMT training in Lovelock.
