The National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA) and the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) Joint Task Force files (1995-2002) document the task force’s efforts to regulate Native American gaming. The National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) files document the organization’s administration and research priorities dating from approximately 2000 to 2008. Materials include NCPG annual reports, socioeconomic reports, bylaws, financial statements, board meeting minutes, agendas, financial statements and records, informational packets, newsletters, memos, correspondence, lists of board members, notes, conference materials, journal articles, promotional materials, and newspaper articles.

The San Diego State University (SDSU) files contain materials on the Sycuan Institute on Tribal Gaming administration and research about Native American gaming dating from approximately 2008 to 2010. Materials include SDSU periodicals, newsletters, a conference registration form, Sycuan Institute presentation slides, and course brochures. The materials document Dr. Spilde’s work at SDSU, university administration, and research concentrations of the university.

The anthropology teaching and research files contain materials on anthropological topics, such as Dr. Spilde’s graduate teaching courses, syllabi, and student papers; anthropological organizational booklets; and general anthropology books, articles, and book reviews (1980, 1993-2008).

The Spilde publications include publications written by Katherine Spilde dating from approximately 2000 to 2007. Materials include journal articles on topics such as the socioeconomic and political impacts of Native American gaming, Native American sovereignty, the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, and gaming enterprises by Oklahoma Native American groups. Also included are articles published in Global Gaming Business magazine and the Research and Measurement Issues in Gambling Studies, a book chapter, Dr. Spilde’s notes, and correspondence.
