Abstract

The Junior League of Las Vegas' Records on the Morelli House Preservation Project contains the records of the Junior League of Las Vegas and the organization's efforts to preserve the Morelli House in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada from 1997 to 2017. Records are comprised of various internal and external planning documents, research files, advertising and publicity, correspondence, grant files, and photographs. Also included in this collection are scans of original planning documents and drawings used by Las Vegas, Nevada architect, Hugh E. Taylor, during construction of the Morelli House in the 1950s.

The Station Casinos Menu collection is comprised of digital food and beverage menus (approximately 2016) from hotel casino restaurants owned by the Station Casinos gaming company in Las Vegas, Nevada. Digital menus are from restaurants within Green Valley Ranch Resort Spa & Casino and a digitized Food Express Chinese Restaurant menu from Palace Station Hotel & Casino.

Kiel Family Photographs

Abstract

The Kiel Family Photographs (approximately 1854-1989) contains glass plate negatives of members of the Kiel and George families, as well as neighbors from the Stewart and Wilson ranches and ranch workers. The majority of the photographs were taken at the Kiel Ranch site in North Las Vegas, Nevada. The collection consists of the original glass plate negatives, as well as photographic print and negative duplicates made using the originals.

Hard Rock Cafe Neon Guitar Sign Sketch

Collection is comprised of a framed sketch of the neon guitar sign that was fabricated by YESCO for the Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas, Nevada circa 1990. It was hand-colored by the designer Shirley Ono, framed, and presented as a gift to Warwick Stone, Creative Director of the Hard Rock Cafe chain from 1982-1996, who commissioned the design.

The Morgan Sweeney Photograph Collection (approximately 1922-1969) consists of black-and-white photographic prints of Boulder City, Nevada, and Lake Mead and Hoover Dam areas, located on the border between Arizona and Nevada. The images depict the interior, exterior, and construction stages of Hoover Dam (Boulder Dam). There is also an aerial photograph of Boulder City, Nevada.

Abstract

The Chester Longwell Photograph Collection consists of 608 black-and-white photographic prints dating from approximately 1910 to 1930. The images primarily depict the Longwell family's excursions in the Southern Nevada region, primarily to Mount Charleston, Nevada. Also included are images of Southern Nevada mines and mining towns, as well as Pubelo Grande de Nevada, the Lost City. The remaining images depict geological formations and features, as well as forestry and nature scenes in Nevada and Arizona.

The John Steiger Photograph Collection contains black-and-white photographic prints of H. E. Steiger, John Steiger's father, in and around Las Vegas, Nevada in the 1920s. Images depict H. E. Steiger and various other identified and unidentified individuals in various locations surrounding Las Vegas, including Wilson Ranch, Mount Charleston, and Boulder Canyon. Some images of the Las Vegas Grammar School include John Steiger's mother, who was an elementary school teacher in Las Vegas from 1919 to 1920. The majority of items in this collection are digital surrogates, and the donor retains the original items.
