In this interview Mary Deacon discusses accepting a job as the director of libraries at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1982. Deacon describes how she increased the book collection and funding, changed to an integrated automated program, promoted staff development, and lobbied for a new library as the number one building project for the university system.

The interview concludes with Conner discussing the reemergence of mining communities in Nevada and her close interaction with Nevada governors during her career in social services.
