The Air and flight subseries (1955-1981) contains brochures, programs, and guides, including the Flight Exposition and Convention at Nellis Air Force Base.

The Nevada American Revolution Bicentennial Commission (NARBC) sub-series (1952, 1970-1978) contains correspondence, minutes, court documents, newspaper clippings, and press releases. As Chairman of the Nevada American Revolution Bicentennial Commission, John Cahlan oversaw the administration of the celebration in Nevada.

The Las Vegas Diamond Jubilee sub-series (1978-1981) contains minutes, correspondence, events, newspaper clippings, press releases, and publications related to the celebration in honor of the 75th anniversary of the auction of lots by the San Pedro, Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad that led to the founding of the City of Las Vegas. John F. Cahlan served as director for the committee that organized celebrations for the Diamond Jubilee.

The community organizations and events sub-series (1951-1981) contains materials from organizations and events in which the Cahlans were involved or attended. It includes material from the Boy Scouts, Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, Nevada State Archives, Rotary Club, and political organizations.

The Service League/Junior League sub-series dates from 1946 to 1980 and contains reports, projects, financial statements, press releases, speeches, programs, correspondence, and member rosters. It includes documents related to the founding of the organization.
