The Legal Files series (1946-2002) comprises an accumulation of documentation about the legal actions taken by Alice P. Broudy against the Federal Government and the Veteran’s Administration for the death from cancer of her husband, Major Charles A. Broudy, from alleged ionized radiation poisoning. Included in this material are other legal cases and hearings brought by other widows of U.S. servicemen who were also exposed to radiation and subsequently died, cases in which Alice P. Broudy served as an expert witness.
The Audiovisual and Photographic Material series, (1946-1999 and undated) consists of DVDs, VHSs, and reels relating to the atomic era, including radio and television programs and commentary.
The service records of Charles A. Broudy series (1940-1985) covers his entire military career and include commendations, continued education, and fitness records. Broudy served in WWII in the Pacific theater and the Korean war. After returning stateside he was assigned to the Nevada Test Site in Mercury, Nevada.
The medical records of Charles A. Broudy series offers are a complete look at his medical history from the time he went in the service in 1941 until his death in 1977. Alice Pat Broudy continued to request and receive missing records until 2006. These medical records are open to research at the request of Charles A. Broudy's family.
The Nevada Test Site Project Reports subseries focuses on the various above ground and underground tests that took place in Nevada from 1956 through 1963. There is information regarding the overall testing process and its effects on ground personnel. The specific projects are represented by a special code name, i.e., Roller Coaster, and contain statistics, characteristics of each blast, projections for future blasts, and radiation assessments. Additional census reports from the main government contractor of the test site, Reynolds Electric and Engineering Company, Inc., are also included.
The General Government Records subseries (1944-2006) contain committee meetings, reviews and reports of research projects, defense documents, log books and legal testimonies by Alice "Pat" Broudy given as an expert witness. Records of the Government Accounting Office (GAO) and Department of Energy (DOE) are also included.
