Dr. Javier Rodríguez, Biology Professor at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, talks of his personal and educational history that led him to UNLV. He discusses his migration from Puerto Rico to California where he received his PhD from the University of California Berkley and became a biological museum curator for various animal specimens. He later moved to Las Vegas to teach at UNLV where he has now been for nearly two decades; Dr. Rodríguez shares how UNLV has changed since he first started working here, including the university's increased interest in faculty research to become a Top Tier institution. Deanna discusses her personal history moving from Southern California to Las Vegas to become an elementary school teacher. She talks about her family, her religious activities, and how COVID-19 has impacted her personally and professionally with regard to remote instruction.

Oral history interview with Doris Merolle, Alan Rosenberg, and David Rosenberg conducted by Claytee D. White on December 19, 2018 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview, Merolle discusses her early life in Holland and moving to the Bronx, New York in 1945. Brothers Alan and David Rosenberg met their sister Doris Merolle for the first time in 2018. Alan and David talk about their education in New York, their employment as cab drivers, and Alan’s decision to become a nurse. David remembers researching the genealogy of his family and realizing that Merolle was related through their father. Merolle describes moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1986, her employment at the Circus Circus Hotel and Casino, and being unable to make Las Vegas her home. Lastly, Merolle and the Rosenberg brothers discuss the difference between the neighborhoods in the Bronx and in Las Vegas.

Oral history interview with Harry Helfrich and William Grant conducted by Claytee D. White on April 15, 2019 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview, Helfrich discusses his early life in Pennsylvania and enlisting to the United States Army Airborne Division. He talks about his experience with firearms, arriving to Boulder City, Nevada in 1987, and becoming a member of the Boulder City Rifle and Pistol Club. Helfrich remembers becoming president of the Club, and Grant talks about his role as the secretary and treasurer for the Club. Lastly, Helfrich and Grant discuss the Club’s youth programs, and the increase of Club members.

Oral history interview with Linda Faiss, Helen Foley, and Melissa Warren conducted by Claytee D. White on June 28, 2018 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project.

Linda, Helen, and Melissa are founders and managing partners of Faiss Foley and Warren Public Relations and Government Affairs Agency, started in 1998. The women talk about how they met and started their agency, as well as who their first clients were and how they became involved in larger Las Vegas publicity projects. They also discuss their personal lives and their respective interests within their firm.
