In 1976, Jacqueline "Jaki" Baskow was an aspiring actress when she and a friend accepted an invitation to worked in a movie studio in Las Vegas. She had three-hundred dollars to her name, a dream and lots of dynamic energy. Though the movie studio offer did not quite materialized as she hoped - the invitation had come from Batman co-creator Bob Kane - Jaki's trajectory into Las Vegas, working with talents and planning events became an over forty year career. In this interview, she talks about growing up Jewish in Camden, New Jersey where her father was a murder victim; her tenacious effort to find the perpetrator included the help of celebrity detective Joe Schillaci. She shares stories of the colorful array of A-list entertainers she has worked with to build her successful business, Baskow and Associates. She has built a niche of handling large corporate events, hiring talent and attention to details for exciting events. She reflects on the people and moments that impelled her on; mentors such as Bobby Morris and Frank Sinatra and Jilly Rizzo.

From an early age, Marie McMillan displayed an adventurous sensibility, a characteristic that is revealed in how life unfolded for her. In this multi-part interview, Marie begins with her birth in 1926 California, and continues with stories of her childhood recollections of the Depression era, her longstanding closeness with Nanny, her maternal grandmother, and memories of Old Bent, her paternal grandfather. She enjoys a flirtatious vitality and attends college for a year. However, as World War II begins to infest the U.S., Marie finds herself falling for a young merchant marine named Duke Daly. They marry, have two children, and live a transient life moving about California and Hawaii as he goes to school, then seeks and finds employment in a postwar economy. Oral history interview with Jay Pleggenkuhle and Daniel Perez conducted by Claytee D. White on July 18, 2018 for the Remembering 1 October Oral History Project. In this interview, Jay and Daniel describe their business partnership in a landscaping venture. After the tragic event on October 1, 2017, the pair wanted to do something for the city of Las Vegas, Nevada. Perez suggested that Pleggenkuhle call officials at the City of Las Vegas and propose a healing garden. The City offered a site and the work began, and within 72 hours, a design materialized, volunteers appeared, materials arrived, and the work began. On Friday, the official dedication was held. Pleggenkuhle and Perez share stories of the garden's construction, the generosity of the human spirit, love, and giving back as a city mourns. The two recall that the main oak tree, the Tree of Life, centers the garden and the 58 smaller trees anchor the garden.
