Oral history interview with Gillian Kabat conducted by Joyce Marshall on June 29, 1996 for the UNLV University Libraries Oral History Collection. In this interview, Kabat discusses her career as a dancer and being a member of the Bluebell Girls dance troupe. She talks about obtaining working visas to perform in the United States, being a dancer during the 1960s, and transitioning into a teaching career.

Lilly Fong oral history interview

Abstract

Oral history interview with Lilly Fong conducted by Lisa Fremont on May 06, 1995 for the UNLV University Libraries Oral History Collection. In this interview, Fong discusses her family background and their immigration story to the United States in the early 1910s. She talks about her husband’s interest in the restaurant business and the opening of their restaurant, Fong’s Garden, in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1955. Fong remembers being elected as Regent for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), the increase of students attending the College of Southern Nevada, and advocating to keep UNLV’s Tonopah Hall as a dormitory building for students. Fong talks about completing a master’s degree from UNLV in 1982, state university funding, and her involvement with the Chinese community in Las Vegas.

Donald Snyder oral history interviews

Abstract

Oral history interviews with Don Snyder conducted by Stefani Evans on April 20, 2017, July 28, 2017, September 26, 2017, January 09, 2018, and March 14, 2018 for the Building Las Vegas Oral History Project. In these interviews, Snyder discusses his early life and arriving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1987. He talks about First Interstate Bank, his involvement with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Foundation, and his career in banking. Snyder describes banking regulations, his resignation from First Interstate Bank, and the opening of Bank West of Nevada (Bank of Nevada) in 1994. He talks about the Downtown Progress Association, Fremont Street Experience, and joining Boyd Gaming. Snyder discusses his career at UNLV and serving as Dean of the UNLV William F. Harrah College of Hospitality from 2010 to 2013. Lastly, Snyder is joined by Bo Bernhard, the Executive Director for the UNLV International Gaming Institute. The two discuss UNLV's involvement in building Allegiant Stadium, the creation of the Campus Improvement Authority Board, and their goal to move UNLV toward Tier 1 status.

Abstract

Roundtable discussion with University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) engineers Ramon Martinez, Richard Wyman, Herbert C. Wells, and Robert Skaggs conducted by Dave Emerson on May 6, 2006 for the UNLV @ 50 Oral History Project. In this discussion, the engineers talked about how they joined UNLV and pursued careers in their respective fields of engineering. They also discussed the creation and development of engineering courses at UNLV, Geological Engineering and Dynamics. Martinez, Wyman, Wells, and Skaggs also detail their individual undergraduate education at different colleges before coming to UNLV.

In this interview, Courtney discusses her career as a nurse in Las Vegas, Nevada. She explains the responsibilities she has as the Director of Clinics and Nursing Services of the Clark County Health District. In addition, she also mentions that she is a part of the Nevada Nurses Association. Lastly, Courtney speaks about the different types of nursing practices that are present in Las Vegas, such as the home health practice.
