Carver, Carver-Duhme, and Carver-Book Families (Smoky Valley). Laura Stebbins Darrough, said to have discovered the gold deposit at Round Mountain, Nevada, while searching for an escaped milk cow. Man with back to the camera is unidentified.
The Fayle Family Photographs depict the Fayle Family in Southern Nevada and California from 1888 to 1990. The photographs primarily include family photographs of Leonard Fayle, Anna Louise Trapnell Fayle, Leonard Fayle’s parents George Fayle and Jean Henderson Fayle, Leonard Fayle’s siblings George Arthur Fayle and Jean Nevada Fayle, and Leonard and Anna Fayle’s children Jane and Edward Fayle. The photographs also depict the Nevada towns of Las Vegas, Goodsprings, and Jean, including railroad operations, mining, milling, and hauling freight. The collection includes a leather-bound photograph album containing images of the Fayle Family and the Yount Family.
Inscription on back reads: "The wagon in the middle foregroundshows a dray hauling one of our 50 HP motors to the "Frances Mohawk" lease which is shown on the extreme left. This lease and the one in the center (the "Hayes-Monnetta") are each taking out over $40,000 per day. The houses in the distance are lying between Goldfield and Columbia. The large white building to the right and back is the Nevada Goldfield Reduction Works. The R.R. station is to the rear and left." Caption: Mohawk Mine Goldfield, Nev. early 1900s. 1200 ft. level, Belmont Mine, Tonopah, NV, 1911. There is an inscription on the back of the image: "The Tonopah Belmont Development Company was Tonopah's second most prosperous mining company, recording a production of $38,000,000. The Belmont mine was the company's principal working shaft and reached a depth of 1700 feet. The Belmont shaft was in use from 1909 until it was burned out by a fire of undetermined origin October 31, 1939." There is a date stamp: mid-year 1987.

A camp in Railroad Valley, Nye County, Nevada, in the vicinity of present-day (1990) oil fields where Isaac "Ike" Irwin drilled for potash. Seated in the wagon wearing a white shirt is Frank Roberts and beside him is Jess Hildebrandt, a resident of Duckwater, Nevada. This photograph is undated, but judging by Frank Robert’s age in the photo it appears to be circa 1915.
